A strong Google Business Profile is complete, accurate and useful: correct category, contact details, hours, services, location, fresh real photos and a steady stream of genuine customer reviews with thoughtful replies.
1. Get the business facts right
Name, category, phone, website, hours and map location sound basic because they are. They are also exactly the things customers need when they are close to buying. Do not stuff the business name with keywords or create information that is not true.
2. Pick categories based on what the business actually is
Your primary category should describe the core business, not every service you hope to rank for. Add relevant secondary categories only where they genuinely fit.
3. Show the real place
Upload useful photos: exterior, entrance, interior, staff, products, services and the things a first-time visitor needs to recognise. Real local proof is more helpful than repeating generic poster creatives.
4. List services and products clearly
If someone has to guess what you do, the profile is unfinished. Use plain names customers understand. Where prices are stable and appropriate, show them.
5. Build a genuine review habit
Ask after a good customer experience. Make the link or QR code easy. Do not buy reviews and do not ask staff to manufacture them. Reply to positive and negative reviews like a business owner who expects future customers to read the conversation — because they will.
6. Keep hours correct
Festival hours, weekly holidays and temporary changes matter. “Open” on Google and locked at the door is a very efficient way to create a bad review.
7. Measure calls, directions, messages and website actions
Rankings are not the only output. Look at whether discovery turns into real business actions and compare that with enquiries and footfall.
